If you’re reading this letter, most likely you have a student-athlete who wants to play their sport in college… one that’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen and one that works hard on and off the field. Right?
But did you know that every year hundreds of thousands of athletes get overlooked by college coaches, not because they lack talent, but because these coaches don’t know that they exist!
This is where I come in…
Hi, My name is Akeem Shavers and I was once in your student-athletes shoes. I wanted to play my sport in college but had no idea of how to make it happen without being a highly recruited athlete.
I was just coming off of a season-ending injury, my team had only won 3 games my senior year and I had only gotten to play in five of our 10 games. Plus I was attending a school that college coaches never recruited anyone out of in the 60+ year history of my school. So my chances were slim-to-none if I’m being honest.
So I did what any college-hopeful would do and I went to my coaches and asked if they could help me get a scholarship to play football in college because I definitely couldn’t afford to walk on or take on any student loans, and I didn’t even know recruiting services existed back then. But in a nutshell, they told me that it wasn’t their job to get me a scholarship and if I was good enough college coaches would’ve found me.
That’s when I knew it was up to me to make it happen. I was starting the process SUPER late and I had nothing to lose, so I jumped in headfirst into the recruiting world making a thousand and one mistakes but getting better after each lesson and learning from all of my trial and error. And before I knew it, I had received my first offer to play college football. That’s when I thought that if this school wants me, there may be other schools that want me as well.
So I took what worked from what got me my first offer and repeated the process a few times and with a little patience and determination I went from being not-ranked and overlooked, to receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship offers and ultimately signing with Purdue University in the Big Ten Conference.
People from my area saw that I was able to make my way out and started asking if I could help. So I began to help people when I could between classes, free evenings, and in the off-season to help them get the same results. Those who took my advice started seeing results and I knew that I had something that could actually help other people.
So when my playing career came to an end… I made a promise to myself that I would do whatever I could to help out younger players… and the parents and coaches that support them… to help them get scholarship offers just like I was able to…
So I started by breaking down the exact “system” I used to become a Power 5 scholarship athlete and what was working for the people I shared this “system” with over the years.
I call it, The Scholarship Offer System!
And today, I’m excited to announce that the “system” is ready for release. It’s the same system that I used to go from overlooked to ACTUALLY recruited. This is my actual ESPN Recruiting Profile!
